NEW PRODUCT: LED ILLUMINATION
What are LED lights?
The initials LED stand for Light Emission Diode (diode emission of light). Until recently this lights were used in electronic equipment to indicate us if they were on or off, they were always colored, the light was weak and white light didn’t exist.
All this has changed and now LED lights are used for numerous applications, amongst them are: studio illumination, conventional illumination, large LED boards for exterior marketing, signals, etc.
LED illumination has been used as filling light and they posses a color temperature of 5500°K. Actually there’s work in progress to create solutions of LED illumination with color temperature of 3200°K.
What advantage does this technology have compared to conventional lights?
Some advantages are:
- LED lights are 300% more efficient than fluorescent lights, which at the same time are 70% more efficient than incandescent lights.
- Generate low heat, so the lamps used for these lights can be fabricated with economical materials.
- Life time duration spam of 50,000 to 100,000 hours.
- They don’t emit UV radiation or infrared rays.
- There is no change in temperature when the lights are changed.
What are the disadvantages?
In the present probably the biggest disadvantage is the price, even though the extra cost is compensated with the energy saving technology of the product.
Can we say there will be a LED revolution in the present future?
In my opinion the revolution has already started and is going to keep on going for a long time.
In countries that are more technologically advanced is already common to see LED illumination on the streets, traffic lights, traffic signs, automobile lights and in stadiums screens.
In Latin America this technological revolution is relatively recent, where we have began seeing these products on the LED big screens located on soccer fields, main avenues and streets of many cities.
On television we are starting to see there are more and more alternative uses for LED illumination, giving us good feed back on its future, even with the disadvantage of its high cost.
